kids christmas presents

Back in 2001 I remembered from childhood the tradition of the children being allowed to take one present into the church on Christmas Day (to help try and avoid too many tantrums rather than God being genuinely interested, I suspect). The kids then came up to the front and explained just what it their present was to the confused oldies in the congregation (“What’s it called? A Furby? A Furby? Really?”). So finding myself back there many years later on Christmas Day, I took my camera along and took these portraits of the kids with their spoils. These were then exhibited at the Ohio Edit Art Gallery New York later that year.
